Gloria is survived by her loving & adoring Husband of 57 years Sandy, Daughter Correna (Glenn) Cook, 3 Grandsons who were the light of her life, Justin (Megan), Aidan, Hunter, Great Granddaughter Peyton, Brothers Danny (Laurie) Frame, Robin (Robbin) Frame, Stepdaughters Cathy (Bob) Miller, Joyce (Allen) Jemson, Grandchildren Tania, Marc, Bob, Kim, Rob, Jon, Raen, many nieces, nephews and wonderful Friends!
Gloria and Sandy’s love story began in Ocean Falls BC where they married in 1967. When the town closed due to the pulp mill shutdown in 1980 they briefly relocated to Richmond before settling on Vancouver Island in 1981. Nanaimo has been home since 2004 as they wanted to be closer to their 3 Grandsons.
While on the Island, Gloria thoroughly enjoyed a career in retail with Robinson’s, Woodward’s and The Bay where she retired from with life long friends. Travelling was the next chapter in Mom and Dad’s life. Winters had been spent in Mexico up till then but there was so much more of the World to be seen!
From European River Cruises, China, Australia and everywhere in between they saw it all, making many wonderful, cherished Memories along the way!
Gloria’s favourite pastime was to watch her 3 Grandson’s play sports. She may not have understood the rules, but Gramma was Justin, Aidan and Hunter’s biggest Fan! Whether it was a Football, Soccer, Lacrosse or Hockey game, she did not miss one if she could avoid it and was often the loudest Fan in the crowd!
Gloria was loved by all who knew her. With her fun loving, caring nature and joy for life you couldn’t help but be drawn to her. Whether you met her on the dance floor, playing Canasta, Coffee with the ladies, “Wino’s” club or volunteering at the Nanaimo Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store she made you smile with her witty sense of humour and fun personality. Mom’s number one joy though was her Family. Gloria loved deeply and made sure you knew it with a gesture, phone call or a wonderful hug.
We were blessed to have her in our Lives for as long as we did and will be celebrating Gloria on:
Saturday October 19th, 1:00
First Memorial Chapel
1720 Bowen Road
Nanaimo, BC
