Fran died peacefully, at home. Born in Edmonton, AB her family moved to Lake Cowichan in 1945 when her father returned from WWII. A nursing graduate (Royal Jubilee Hospital 1954) she married in 1955 and lived first in North Vancouver, then Saanich (circa 1963) and finally Nanaimo (1971) where she and husband Ross operated a small business until both retired in 1993. With that freedom she travelled a little, volunteered at a kindergarten, watcher her grandchildren grow, attended many great family and nursing reunions, kept in touch with old friends and met many new ones.
Predeceased by parents Leonel and Lydia Carpentier and husband Ross (2021). She leaves son Doug (Janet), brother Bill (Willie) and family, brother Gary (Sharron) and family, grandchildren Steven (Danielle) and Kathryn and great grandson Everett.
Fran was a great story teller and family historian, always positive, supportive, and laughing. Rare criticism was generally reserved for any CFL team that bested her beloved BC lions. No pressure fellas but there is that Grey Cup to win at the end of the season.
She was loved, she will be missed and I'll give her the last words - "I had a good life".
