Blacklock, Betty Jean, nee Gilchrist, passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2024 at the age of 97 in Nanaimo General Hospital with family by her side.
Survived by her loving family, daughter Beverly Ann, grandchildren Matthias, Anne-Katrin, & Joachim, daughter in law Sibylle, nieces Susan & Lynda, and nephews John & Brent. Predeceased by her loving husband Reginald, son Wayne, and sister Muriel.
Betty was born in High River, Alberta on January 2. 1927. Her family moved to BC and she completed her schooling in New Westminster. She met and married her husband Reg at age 20 and they had two children: Wayne & Beverly Ann.
The opportunity to travel fulfilled her youthful dreams of visiting Scotland, Hawaii and also New Zealand and parts of Europe.
Betty loved to write poetry and wrote many inspiring poems that she gifted to friends and family in times of need or on special occasions. She had a genuine warmth and concern for others and would always be there to lend a hand.
She loved life and lived it with joy, appreciation and gratitude.
