First Memorial Funeral Services

Barry Keith McKinnon, a man of boundless creativity, infectious enthusiasm, and a love for the simple joys of life, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Nanaimo, BC, just shy of his 78th birthday with his daughter Deborah by his side.

Barry left behind a remarkable story—a journey shaped by passion, ingenuity, and his time with family and friends.

Barry’s incredible journey started at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Growing up with his parents, John and Marnie, and his two brothers, John and Daryl. Summers at the family home on the water at Gibsons BC was always a joy for him. Eventually sharing that space with his six children; Susann, Deborah, Deena, Alisha, Kevin and Megan.

Music was Barry’s soul’s soundtrack, with the Eagles holding a special place in his heart. Their timeless melodies echoed in his life, fueling his creative pursuits and moments of joy. Barry will be remembered not only for his remarkable talents and passions for The Canucks, The Clippers, The Blujays and Lacrosse but for his huge loving heart. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. We are left to grieve you and never forget you; Children: Susan Messer, Deborah Hayward, Deena Haight, Alisha Johnson, Kevin Mckinnon, Meghan McKinnon. Brother and sister-in-law: John & Cindy McKinnon. Plus all your wonderful Grandchildren. Barry, you’ve truly earned your wings. May you now soar to the sounds of “Take It Easy” and rest in eternal peace.
