Annie was born to Joseph and Yvonne Doucette on September 27, 1945 in Vancouver, BC. She met Jeff in 1989 (married in 2010) and they relocated to Nanoose Bay, BC in 1993 where she enjoyed spectacular sunsets and watching wildlife in the ocean and in her yard. Her life was forever changed when her cherished granddaughter Jordan, ‘Sweet Pea’, was born in 1995.
Annie was an avid gardener and was happiest when she was out in the sunshine taking care of her spectacular rhodos, glorious hanging baskets, and delicate roses. She also loved to bake and made the best pastry ever. She loved music as well, the sound of her voice filled her home while she puttered about.
She enjoyed travelling, particularly on boats. While San Diego was her favourite place, the trip of her life was a 3 week river cruise in Europe with Jeff. Following the cruise, the pair travelled to Berlin to where Annie was overjoyed at the opportunity to cheer her daughter on as she ran a marathon.
Annie was fiercely independent and resilient in the face adversity. Despite being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at only 8 years old, she never let the debilitating pain stop her from living the best life she could. She met each challenge with unwavering hope and optimism, never allowing her positivity to be dimmed.
She is survived by her husband Jeff; daughter Kelly (Sean); granddaughter Jordan; siblings Jos (Jerry), Laurie (Lori) and Mary; and step-daughters Stacy (Dino) and Stephanie and their families.
At her request, in her final wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
