To Wayne's family, I am sorry to hear of his passing.  Wayne and I were salesman together at IBM.   He was responsible for the Lufkin territory and represented himself and IBM with great professionalism.  It has been my honor to have know him.

I am very sad to just find out about Waynes passing.
Wayne and I have known each other since July of 1978.
Wayne actual helped me to establish my computer business (Advanced Business Solutions) while he still worked for IBM.
Wayne would make a sales call for IBM, but if the customer could not afford a new IBM computer, then Wayne would give me the customer's name, I would make a visit to that customer and sell them a preowned IBM computer for half the cost of a new one.  Together we saturated the East Texas area with the IBM System 32 computer, the first IBM computer to have an internal hard drive. 
Our families, with our first wives, would get together often and play bridge.
 We consoled each other through the deaths of both of our first wives and the death of his son.
How I so would have wanted to be there to see the family at the visitation, but I just found out about it today.
I am so sad and am crying over his loss and the fact that we have not seen each other for probably 2-3 years.
The obituary is so true.  Wayne is truly the best man I have ever known.  God is very happy and proud to welcome Wayne in his new home for his service to Him while he was on this earth.

All of my fondest childhood memories are tied up in some way with all of the McLaughlins and their loving home at the end of the cul-de-sac on Spanish Moss…. We shared so many good times and summers there together.  Riding bikes down to the candy store (oh what adventures!), playing a never-ending slew of board games, Battleship!, eating Froot Loops and Coco Puffs cereal (mom—Barbara Wheatley—only allowed plain dough Cheerios at home),  playing “computer” games when no one even knew what a computer was, tents in the pine forest, pizza nights, movies, kid sleepovers in the garage (honestly when the entire Wheatley Clan arrived there was simply no room in the inn),  kid sleepovers in sleeping bags on the floor in the McLaughlin den staring up at the popcorn ceilings that shined with with glitter in the night (stark memories do come to life),  Ping Pong!, tennis, good-natured competition and indeed “fighting”between cousins—just for the record, Marielle and I were often on the losing end of the Marc/ Suzanne/ Stephen equation.  (Shanna was just downright exempt.  Sorry Shanna!), and just so much laughter that I really cannot imagine my growing up years without Uncle Wayne, Aunt Laurelle, Marc, and Marielle.   We are also so thankful for Jan and all of her family that shared their lives and their love with Wayne and Marielle in later years.   It was so good to see all of you today.   Uncle Wayne, today we celebrate the joy you brought into the world!

Prayers for you all.  Wayne made an impact on our family, and he was such a wonderful friend to my dad especially. They persevered and kept the faith through trials and tribulations and always did so with dignity and grace.  I will always remember Wayne’s kind smile and soft chuckle.  I enjoyed his song leading and his lessons.  Loss is never easy under any circumstance, our selfishness makes it difficult.  The comfort comes in knowing our loved ones truly walked with God.  From the time they rose till the time they went to sleep, as they walked on the path or sat in their homes.  Their faith was known. Wayne is my cherished brother in spirit. He has been a blessing in my family's life ever since I met him in Forth Worth in 1974 - a living example of how a true Christian man should live his life. Wayne was the personification of compassion, gentleness, hospitality, kindness, patience, generosity, and love. He was an example and a counselor to so many of us and we will carry wonderful memories of Wayne throughout our lives. My daughter will always remember him patiently teaching her to ride a bike. My boys will always remember the assortment of gummy worms and sugary cereal he would stock up on whenever he hosted his "small friends". And Nancy and I will always remember how his face would light up when we visited. The world benefitted from Wayne's life and I'm sure God will say "well done, good and faithful servant" to Wayne.

Wayne was a wonderful person.  Always thoughtful and kind.  I worked with him at IBM and always enjoyed seeing him.  He had set backs in his life, but he always stayed positive and his faith was evident.  He was fun-loving as evidenced by the Toilet Bowls the Lufkin IBM office had at Christmas time.   i remember Wayne taking our son with his family to Six Flags.  He accepted my Honorary Baptist Certificate with laughter!  I'll always remember Wayne and rejoice that he is in heaven and no longer suffering.

I always remembered Uncle Wayne as such a fun, loving guy. When I was young and we would go visit he always seemed to have a bag of gummy bears to share with me. He had such a warm smile and a great laugh. Prayers and love to Marielle, Jan, and family. 

Wayne and my late husband David worked together at IBM for many years. Wayne always had a smile and such a cheerful personality. Prayers for Marielle and others in the family.

I worked with Wayne at IBM for many years until his retirement. Then I worked with him again as IBM had office space in DP Solutions. We also played tennis for a good while. He was such a kind and gentle soul. We often reminisced about our young days on our respective farms, his in the Texas panhandle and mine in northeast Texas.

Uncle Wayne was always the fun uncle, and he spent a lot of time spoiling his nephews and nieces, of which I was one.  Anytime Wayne was around, you knew you would be having fun.  He was a really great guy and role model.  My sincere condolences to Marielle, Jan and their families.

My uncle Wayne was a great man. When we would visit  we would play board games and  have ping pong tournaments. He had great sense of humor snd always made  me laugh. I remember I was visiting and  my cousins were racing bicycles and he showed me the  ropes on how to race a bike and I entered a race and did well for my first time and he and my  aunt cheered me on .
Thanks for the memories I love you and you will be missed.
