Leroy was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches. He started rodeoing in his younger years which consisted of steer dogging and calf roping. He continued to stay active in rodeos through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In 1956 he met Billie Loren Bass, they married on November 16, 1957, and were married for 49 1/2 years before she preceded him in death.
Leroy was a well-known cattleman and rancher and spent many hours overseeing his cattle. He was a member of the Texas Cattleman’s Association and Texas Farm Bureau. His days consisted of buying, selling, and working cattle throughout his life. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest passion was cooking and entertaining his family and friends. He also loved to fish and play 42. Leroy was loved by all for his witty personality and his generosity. He touched many lives and will never be forgotten.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Loren; parents, William and Pearl Weaver; brothers, William, Charles, Kenneth, Robert, and Royce; sisters, Ruby Oxford and Nelda Berry.
He is survived by his brother, Howard and wife Cindy; and sisters, Hazel Harrell and Evelyn Fore; daughters, Tam O’Neal and husband Kent of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Kay Dishman and husband Monk of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Pierce and husband Stony of Nacogdoches, Texas, Alicia Lee of Nacogdoches, Texas, Zach Dishman and wife Ashley of Beaumont, Texas, and Zane Blank and husband Kyle of Beaumont, Texas; great-grandchildren, Arin Pierce, Chase Pierce, Ryder Weaver Pierce, Christian Lee, Thomas Hunter Lee, Dalton Dishman, Makenna Dishman, and Adalyn Dishman.
Services for Leroy Weaver are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, with Pastor Stan King officiating, assisted by Bro. Bill Shaw and Bro. Terry Holland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at 5127 North Street.
Visitation will be held from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
