

Sonia E. Keath 79, of Nacogdoches, passed away on May 17, 2021 along with her daughter Jennifer “Jennie” Gibson, following a tragic car accident. Sonia, the star of the valley, was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on March 8, 1942 to Jose’ and Lucinda del Valle. Sonia immigrated to Oklahoma City, OK in 1947 with her family.
Sonia and her surviving husband, Walton Earl Keath were long-time residents of Arlington, Texas before recently moving to Nacogdoches to be closer to family. Sonia leaves behind her husband, Walton Keath; her children, Jackie Badders and her husband Jeff of Nacogdoches, Texas, Rex Gibson and his wife Mary Jo, of Melbourne, Florida, and Andrea Ramos and her husband Robert of Austin, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is additionally survived by her sisters, Juanita Morrow and Mary Riley. Sonia loved and adored all of her family and will be greatly missed by dozens of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Educated in fashion design and management, Sonia made a career as a buyer and manager of retail gift stores while raising her four children. Sonia was devoted to all of her children, but maintained a special bond with Jennie and was her legal guardian due to Jennie’s intellectual disability. Sonia was a very active member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas and was transitioning to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches.
Sonia lived life to the fullest. She touched many people with her kind heart, enthusiasm, and unconditional love.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. A Rosary reading will begin at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon David Darby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches officiated by The Reverend George Elliot.
