Linda Jean Herrington Power was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The daughter of Wayne Herrington and Ora Hicks Herrington, she was born in Red River County, Texas, on September 27, 1937, minutes before her twin sister, Hazel Dean Herrington Collvins. She entered her rest on May 27, 2023, after a long, hard-fought battle with COPD.
Linda was a 1955 graduate of Clarksville High School. She met Henry Lane Power at the wedding of mutual friends in 1958. They were married in February 1959 and had four children.
She is having a joyful Heavenly reunion with her life-long best friend and twin sister, Hazel, as well as her sister Patricia Herrington Blankenship, her parents, and Henry. She leaves behind her devoted children, Pamela Power Oney and husband Chuck of Quinlan; Deidra Power Daniels and husband Jay of Magnolia; Kerri Power and fiancé Billy Welch of Tyler and Ennis; and Timothy Power of Sulphur Springs. Linda was blessed with four grandchildren, Robert Oney, Andrew Power, Kimberly Power, and Trent Power; seven great-grandchildren Connor, Riley, Sarah, Benjamin, Nathan, and Taliah Oney, and Nora Power; siblings, Vivian Herrington Spradlin Burroughs, Deloyce Herrington Minter, Betty Herrington Minter, Ruby Herrington Garrett, Edith Herrington Auston, Larry Herrington, David Herrington, Sandra Herrington Jones, and Kathy Herrington Farmer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Linda was an avid gardener, an excellent cook, and an exceptional seamstress. She loved to travel and, in the last few years, had discovered the delights of cruising with her family, including her twin sister, her daughters, and her sons-in-law. She also loved her many years of participation in Beta Sigma Phi.
A visitation for Linda will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas, beside her husband.
Pallbearers will be Robby Collvins, Jerry Minter, Brian Auston, Todd Herrington, Carson Collvins, and Kevin Forbis. Honorary Pallbearer is Johnnie Minter.
