Janice Lynn Waggoner was born January 20, 1967 in Franklin, LA. She was the daughter of Roy H. Waggoner, Jr. and Brenda F. (Davis) Waggoner. Janice passed from this life on February 6, 2024 in Nacogdoches, Texas, very unexpectedly at the age of 57 years. She had been a citizen of Nacogdoches for many years and well-known within the community.
As a young child, Janice’s family traveled extensively which meant that she attended schools in Venezuela, Indonesia, Singapore and other such exotic places. Upon entering back into the United States, she was elected to Who’s Who in High School Students as well as attended Harvard University as a “gifted high school student”. Upon graduation she went on to attend Stephen F. Austin University followed by finishing her degree at the University of Texas Southwestern as a Licensed Physical Therapist. Janice worked for Nacogdoches Medical Center as a physical therapist for 16 years and was the glue that held the department together.
Ms. Waggoner’s hobbies included traveling, the Dallas Cowboys where she had her own seats, but most of all she “worked”. She worked to be able to travel--travel with her family which she took with her. Travel to Alaska, Guatemala, Mexico, New York and so many other places. And, they were headed to Spain.... She loved showing our world to Mindy and the boys.
She is survived by her spouse, Mindy Waggoner of Nacogdoches; two sons, Matthew David Chen of Dallas and Marcus David Chen of Houston; stepson, Brady Nolan Plunkett of Nacogdoches; brother, Michael David Michel and his wife Doris D. and a sister, Tammy Tullis Yandle and her husband Henry of New Braunfels, Texas, as well as her mother, Brenda Waggoner of Nacogdoches. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy H. Waggoner, Jr.
