Jack Sparks

Born August 12, 1923, as a son of Oscar and Lucy (Partin) Sparks, he was a native and lifelong resident of Nacogdoches. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3893, Nacogdoches.

Mr. Sparks was a dedicated employee to Texas Power & Light Company. He retired from TP&L as district customer service manager after 41 years of service. Jack was also a member of the Nacogdoches Noon Lions Club.

A hard worker, he spent many hours tending his cattle operations and hay fields. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

Jack Sparks will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He was an outstanding neighbor, always ready to step up to help others.

He and Jacqueline Rambin were married January 14, 1949, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Sparks.

Survivors: his sons, Jack Craig Sparks and his wife, Penny, and Richard Clay Sparks and his wife, Charla, all of Nacogdoches; sisters, Doris Simons of Dallas, Marie Spurgeon of Bristol, and Pauline McDaniel of Dallas; a brother, Billy Joe Sparks of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Jannette Sparks, Dustin Sparks, Amber Williamson, and Matt Godsey; great-grandchildren, Jack Bradley, Cade Williamson, and Kinley Williamson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North St. in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
