Gayle, the beloved wife of Dudley Davis, was born on July 30, 1946 in Jacksonville, FL. She was the daughter of Melvin and Swann Knowles and leaves behind her brother Father Clay Knowles (wife Jacqueline), and her sister Patricia Knowles. She was the mother of Scott Edward Davis (wife Linda) and Carl Alexander Davis (wife Marcy), and grandmother of Ellie, Luke, Alejandra and Benjamin Davis.
Gayle loved the Lord from her early childhood and was a devoted follower of Jesus her Saviour. She was an encourager to all who knew her, and freely shared with others what they might need. She enjoyed playing the violin and listening to classical music.
Gayle attended Sullins College in Virginia and the Pensacola College of Dental Hygiene. Her work career included assisting her husband in his dental practice for many years. She was also very involved in Bible Study Fellowship and was a volunteer at Nacogdoches Medical Center for 11 years. Her primary work was that of a devoted mother and wife.
Gayle and Dudley recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary by God’s grace. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and a testimony of God’s sovereign care for her during her illness of 29 years.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to The Hospice of East Texas, Dr. Aaron C. Polk, Jr., Dr. Blaise Ferraraccio, Dr. Rogelio Cavazos-Garcia, the Nacogdoches Medical Center nursing staff and hospitalist service for excellent care in her recent illness.
