Mrs. Billie Jo Koonce Ball of Douglass, Texas, passed away on Monday May 17, 2010 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
She was born June 19, 1929, in Salem, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Milbert “Bill” Ball in 1999.
Mrs. Ball lived in Texas until 1962. Her and Bill relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona, where she worked as a Dietician for the Public Schools. She retired in 1974. She and Bill moved back to Douglass, Texas, and moved into her parents’ home, John L. and Tessie C. Koonce where she grew up. She and Bill started B&B Peaches. She loved to sell peaches and care for her flowers.
She is survived by her son, Billy Ball of Douglass, Texas; daughter Carol and James Brittain of Douglass, Texas; daughter, Sheryl and Mark Fry of Flagstaff, Arizona; as well as seven grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Special thanks is given to the Lexington Place Nursing Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Also thanks to the staff and special thanks to all the Nurses and Nurse Aids that cared for Mrs. Ball.
Family visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2010, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
Services will be held Friday, May 21, 2010, at 11:00 am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Rev. Bobby King and Rev. Michael Parks officiating. Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
