He was born January 15, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill received a geology degree from Oklahoma University and retired in 1984 from Pennzoil after a successful career as a geophysicist. He continued to work as an independent consultant for several years after retiring.
Bill and the former Mercedes Stringer were married July 4, 1947. As they followed Bill's career in the petroleum industry, the Tuckers lived in various cities in the South. They moved to Nacogdoches in 1984 and enjoyed retirement years in the Deep East Texas area. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches and faithfully served as a board member and treasurer for Hebron Cemetery Association.
Mercedes preceded him in death on September 13, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Alex Norvin Tucker and Maude Odessa Boxx Tucker; and a brother, Gwynne Tucker.
His survivors include his son, William Curtis Tucker and wife Barbara of Stansted, England; two daughters, Mary Beth
Tucker of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Harriet Ann Konrad and husband Dave of Houston, Texas; a brother, Wayne Tucker of Elsinore, Missouri; grandchildren, Michele Harrell, Amy Allen, Sarah Konrad, Weston and Scott McElwee, B.J. and Matthew Tucker, and Sue Williamson; great-grandchildren, Drew Saltus, Cameron Saltus, Lindsay Harrell, Ryan Harrell, Lexie Allensworth, and Ella Allensworth; and great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abigail, and Bonnie Saltus, and James Friedrich.
Services are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel with Dr. Jeff McDonald officiating.
A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at the Hebron Cemetery, located on County Road 4600 off FM 705 near Broaddus, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
