Betty Katherine Walker Stone

She was born July 2, 1942, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to parents Ralph B. Walker and Florence E. Faulkner Walker. A graduate of Nacogdoches Business College, she was a dedicated staff member at Stephen F. Austin State University’s library for 48 years.

Betty was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she loved to sing with the Joyful Sound Choir. Betty loved Jesus. She also loved cooking and gardening, as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alanna and Mark Compton; grandchildren, Dominic Brewer, Ragan Brewer, and Kenedi Compton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Andrea Walker and Tim and Pam Walker; and a dear friend and caregiver, Marilyn Matlock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Florence Walker; and a brother, Garry Walker.

Services are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 3732 NE Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Pastor Paul Sevar officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Todd Walker, Robert Walker, Roger Curbow, Dominic Brewer, Kirk Brewer, and Robert Redd. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joyful Sound Choir.

Her family wishes to offer a special thank you to The Arbor, Brookdale, and Heart to Heart Hospice staffs and friends along with Mary Jo Lees and Lisa Thomas.
