William L. Corley age 87 was born on June 5, 1925 to the late Len and May Corley and passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; his children, Roger L (Ondra) Corley and William L. (Rose) Corley and Carol Allendar; 7 grandchildren, Daniel L. Corley, William J. Corley, James M. Corley, Ginger Cavanaugh, Michelle Allendar, Jessica Allendar and Shawn Iggurie; several great and great-great grandchildren. Born in Jordan, Montana he was raised by his Mom, Grandma Umland and Aunt Annie Rogge. At age 17 he went to Seattle, Washington and joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Peleiu Islands in the South Pacific, was wounded twice and sent home in 1945 and come to Muskegon and married Dorothy in 1948. Bill worked for Continental Motors, the Norge and Dressers’ until his retirement in 1977. Bill was an avid hunter often going to Montana. He also spent time hunting in the Bitely area where he owned a cabin, he especially enjoyed hunting there with his sons and grandsons. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Lilley Township Cemetery near Bitely. A memorial service will be held at Family Bible Church, 1256 W. Broadway, in Roosevelt Park, on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Bill’s family will receive friends at the Church from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday Memorial contributions may be directed to the Church charity of your choice or West Michigan Veterans Inc.
