in Fruitport, MI, following a long term illness, with his wife and beloved puppies by his side.
He was born on September 15, 1951 in Fremont, MI, son of Frank and Marian Bayne. He
was preceded in death by his father; a special labrador retriever pal, Samuel, and many other
beloved pets. Surviving are his wife, Annette, his mother Marian and his two fur babies,
Maggie May and Libby Lou. In 1994 Roger graduated from Western Michigan University with
a Masters Degree in counseling. Throughout his career he worked in a variety of settings as
a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in substance abuse counseling and marriage
counseling. On October 2, 1999 after a whirlwind courtship, he married his “sweetie”,
Annette Kay Book, in a small ceremony in the backyard of his home where he had lived for
over 40 years. Together they lived in Roger’s home in the country and enjoyed deer hunting
in their backyard, watching old black and white Westerns on t.v., visiting waterfalls in the
Upper Peninsula and most of all playing with their puppies. Cremation has taken place and in
accordance with Roger’s wishes he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony alongside all of
his past special pets in Noah’s Pet Cemetery in Lowell, MI. The family would like to extend a
special thank you to Spectrum Health Hospice for providing such compassionate and
supportive care services to both Roger and Annette through this difficult time.
