Robert Frederick Knoll, aged 69, passed away Wednesday November 18, 2020 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was born February 26, 1951 in Muskegon, MI to Kenneth and Ella Knoll. Bob was a star high school college athlete and was named to the National All American Collegiate Team for Wrestling as an MCC Jayhawk. In 1971 Bob joined the United States Air Force serving for 8 years and obtaining Sgt-E4 status. He then settled back in Muskegon and met Pamela Thielbar, marrying her in 1983. Bob worked at S.D. Warren Paper Mill later Sappi Fine Paper for 28 years. He worked his way up to become and retired as the Operations Manager of Finishing. Bob’s love of sports led to many years of coaching football, track, and wrestling. He mentored many young student athletes from the Orchard View school district which was his alma mater. Bob retired in 2009 to pursue his passion of woodworking with his beloved wife Pam. They were partners together in this venture until he passed. They created many beautiful pieces of furniture and American flags together as a team. Bob is survived by wife Pam, daughters MiSu Peltoniemi-Kozal (Shaun), Becky Rose(DJ), his 3rd daughter Great Dane Lexi, grandchildren Madison aka Queen, Dayton, Vanessa, MaKayla and Abbigail. He also leaves behind his sisters Jane Graham, Wendy Ford(Kris), Loisann Westerlund(Randy) Karen Muscato(Randy) and his Aunts Lois Merrymon and Lavange Jones(Dick) of Florida, sister-n-law Nancy Thielbar along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-n-law Louis Graham. Bob will be missed for so many things. He loved to cook, travel, and do everything with his family and his dog Lexi. Bob could fix anything and his can do spirit along with his curiosity for life will be sorely missed. Bob’s legacy is his infinite love for his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy . Bob’s biggest regret in leaving so soon was the missed adventures and milestones he would not be here for with them. Bob never slowed down even in the worst times of his illness. His determination to keep going and to be there for his family is what drove him and his positive outlook never waned. Bob will be missed and cherished by all who were lucky to know him , but especially by the loved ones he has left behind. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a family memorial at a later date.
