Mary worked as a waitress at Walgreen's and after, as a crossing guard for the Norton Shores Police Department (at Phillips School) from 1951 until she retired in 1999. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary post 3734, and a member of the former Norton Shores Assembly of God.
Preceding her in death was her husband George, sons, Brent Deater and Bruce Deater, brothers, Jack Stickles and Thomas Stickles, sister, Alice Kitson, grandchildren, Mari, Benjamin, great grandchildren, Ameilya, Hezekiah, Hayden, Eli and Hunter.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Sparty) Sunagel, Barbie (Howie) VanHall, Julie (Larry Jr.) Louzon, Brenda Nelson, Jon (Judi) Deater; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brother James “Butch” (Sue) Stickles; in-laws Clara Stickles, Juanita Durga; step brother Joe Stickles; many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, from 1-3:00pm and 6-8:00pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home.
Services are planned for 11:00am Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sanctuary at the Shore in Grand Haven.
