James went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2023. His final days were spent with family and friends that he touched in a very memorable life. He lived the majority of his life in Smyrna, Tennessee. He Graduated from East Nashville High School in 1959.
James is preceded in death by his Wife Helen V. Winfrey and his Parents Willie B. Winfrey and Mildred Marie Carney, Brother William Winfrey and Sister Nancy Winfrey Durden and grandson Christopher Gray.
James is survived by his children Elise and Lou Gray, Teresa and David Moss, and James Winfrey, Jr. and Sister Judy Swindell. He was a grandfather to six and great grandfather to six.
Jim was a proud member and retiree of the Teamster Union. He served as a Deacon and Volunteer at Miracle Baptist Church in La Vergne, Tennessee. He taught Sunday school with the Senior Group.
Friends are cordially invited to visitation on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4:00pm till 8:00pm at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129. Funeral service to celebrate will be at 1:00pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Roselawn Funeral Home with placement to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
