SCPO Navy Retired, Ira L. Helton, age 72, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was the son of the late James Luther Helton, Sr. and Ellen Frances Campbell Helton. He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Jan A. Helton; daughter, Jennifer McGraw, granddaughters, Amanda McGraw and El McGraw; sister, Nancy Scott and her husband Ray; brothers, James L. Helton, Jr. and his wife Barbara, David Helton and his wife Kathy, Granville Helton and his wife Carolyn and Kenneth Helton and his wife Jeri; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate Mr. Helton will be at One O’clock the afternoon of Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Final placement with military honors will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are cordially invited to visitation Friday evening, February 11, 2022 from Five O’clock until Eight O’clock also at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129. Mr. Helton proudly served his country, having retired from the United States Navy.
