Kent A. Rudbeck

Kent was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 17, 1946. His childhood instilled a lifelong passion for travel, adventure and chasing adrenaline. All throughout his life, if it moved he would race it. After graduation from Southside High School, he began his career at General Motors in Muncie, Indiana where he would later retire as a product engineer in 2000 after working for 35 years. After retirement, Kent started his own business working as a liaison between General Motors and parts suppliers as a quality engineer.

In 1987, Kent bought a Rosewood T-Type Buick Regal. His racing history with the car would bring him Midwest fame as a legend in the Buick community. Before 2005, the car was running an average over 14 seconds. Kent turned it into a 7 second car.

Kent and Amy first met and bonded over their mutual interest in windsurfing. They married at a chapel in Las Vegas in 1991. Kent inspired Amy and his son, Bret, to join the Buick racing community. They enjoyed racing together for more than a decade. Over the years, Kent and Amy have enjoyed nature and camping through visiting many national parks.

He leaves behind his spouse, Amy Rudbeck of 33 years; his children; Bret Rudbeck (Vickie), Nikki Dillard, Robbie (labradoodle), Lily and Lucky (cats); grandchildren; Karlie McMullen (DJ), CJ Burchfield (Kenzie), William Wallace (Ali); great-grandchildren Brooklyn Burchfield, Victor Braun, Kora Burchfield, Scarlytte Burchfield, Arlo Burchfield; his sisters Sandy Hughes and Vicki Fisher (Bill); sisters in law Jeanne Toomey (Randy), Patty Arnold (Glen); and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Martin and Mary Lou Rudbeck (parents), Chuck Hughes (brother-in-law), Eric Dillard (son in law).

Services will be held at Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park |4600 West Kilgore Ave, Muncie, IN 47304| Viewing Friday, April 4, 3-7pm and Funeral Saturday, April 5th, 11am.
