John M. Williams

John MacArthur Williams, 81, Gaston, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sunday, August 16, 1942, in Muncie, the son of Lester and Edna (Haney) Williams. John enjoyed woodworking, tinkering around in the garage, and putting together model cars. He was a mechanic by heart and liked working on cars. He was a former member of V.F.W., Am Vets, and the Eagles Lodge, where he enjoyed playing BINGO. John had worked at Lift-A-Loft and later as a welder for Fun Country Marina. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 until 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Boles) Williams; daughter, Shanda Williams; grandchildren, Cassie (fiancé, Nick Watters) Short, and Jacob Short; great-granddaughter, Nellie Watters; several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Lester and Edna Williams; his brother, Robert; sisters, Shirley, Francis, Iva, and Pat; and a niece, Hayley, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Rev. Dr. Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. The Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
