Carrie June Brown

Carrie June Brown passed away the morning of March 20, 2024, with loving family by her side. She was born in Jamestown, Tennessee, on September 4, 1943, and moved to Muncie at seven years of age with her parents, Dock and Julia Jones, and siblings. She attended Muncie Schools and graduated from Muncie Central.

In 1960, Carrie married Norman Brown of Yorktown, Indiana, and they were together sixty-two years. They were married in a little white church in Muncie called McCormick Chapel.

Carrie and Norman enjoyed family vacations and camping with their children and other family members for many years. She also enjoyed all sorts of crafting work such as crocheting and ceramics, and gave painting lessons to friends and family for a while. Carrie was beautiful, funny, loving and sassy. She will be greatly missed.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Julia Jones; and her husband, Norman, who passed away in 2023. Her daughter, Kimberly Brown also preceded her in death as well as her brother, Gerald Jones and sister, Betty Evans. Her sisters-in-law, Deloris Lacy, Wanda Jones, and Nancy Jones preceded her in death, as well as brothers-in-law, Lee Gustin, Mike Christman, Vance Lacy, Clyde Evans, and Ron Eller; two nephews, Tom Brown and Jeff Kramer; and two grandnieces, Monica Kimmerling, and Autumn Engelmann.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brown, who was her main caregiver in her last months. Her niece, Pam Jefferson also survives and made Carrie’s last months much more enjoyable with her cooking, caregiving help, and companionship. Carrie’s son-in-law, Randy Gaw survives, as well as her brother, Bob Jones and sister, Lois Eller. She is survived as well by several in-laws, Raymond (Marilyn) Brown, Mary Gustin, Sharon (Gary) Kramer, and Dana Christman. She has many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Carrie had a good friend who became family, Sanit Sangaroon (Sar), and she always enjoyed his company.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Larry Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
