Betty Lou Gaddis, 93, of Muncie, IN passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on August 14, 1931 in New Castle, IN to Herschel and Cleo (Campbell) McClain. In 1949, Betty married Max R. Gaddis in New Castle, IN and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2010.
Betty graduated from Chrysler High School in New Castle, IN in 1949. Growing up, her parents owned a greenhouse and flower shop, which developed Betty’s deep love for flowers. Carrying on the family business, Betty started working with flowers in 1968 and went on to own her own flower shop. After she retired in the early 1990’s, Betty extended her education and received her real estate license.
Growing up in the church, Betty and Max were never allowed to dance, so in their free time after retirement, they took dance lessons together. Betty was very active at St. Paul United Methodist church and volunteered for the Ball Memorial Hospital gift shop and Minnetrista. She was an avid card player, playing euchre and bridge; she was in multiple bridge clubs throughout her life.
Betty was always active and even lived on her own until June of 2024. She was a kind and nice person who had a big heart full of love.
Betty is survived by her children, Julie McCammack, Ginger Gaddis, Robert (Karen) Gaddis, and Douglas (Tammy) Gaddis; grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Devan, Ethan, Alisha, and Grant; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pam Keesling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; son-in-law, Randall McCammack; grandson, Brock; and sister, Beverly Estel.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304, with Betty’s grandson, Ryan, and Pastor Damon Soper co-officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, The Parkinson’s Foundation, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
