It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Sidney M. Rosen, beloved father of Mark N. Rosen, Brett Rosen, and A.J. Rosen (deceased), and beloved husband to Gay Rosen. Sidney also leaves behind his beloved brother, Bernard, his nephew Nathaniel, and Bernard's wife, Lily. Sidney passed away on Friday evening, May 27th after a long illness.
Dr. Rosen was born on October 18th, 1940, and since his father was an Attorney, Rabbi, Lt. Colonel and Chaplain in the U.S. Airforce, Sidney lived in many countries including, England, Germany, the Philippines and France (where he was Bar Mitzvahed).
Sidney was a recipient of a Regents Scholarship to Yeshiva University , graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts, then attended the Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Dentistry, and graduated in 1966. Sidney enlisted and served as a Captain in the U.S. Airforce, Dental Corps August 1966 - August 1968 ; his duty stations being Shepard AFB, Maimstrom AFB and Tan Son Nhut in Vietnam. Sidney then had endodontic training at the New York College of Dentistry from July 1968 to 1970 when he obtained his certificate in Endodontics.
Sidney's practices were in both the Bronx and Scarsdale New York while he also held a staff position at the NYU College of Dentistry of Endodontics as an Associate Professor from 1971 -1992. Sidney retired in 2014, was a true Renaissance man, a knowledge lover. He was loved and respected by those who met him, and he will be sorely missed. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, May 31st, at 10:30 am at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla.
