Georgia M. Dlouhy Berckenhoff, age 81, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021. She was born on March 9, 1940 to Vladik and Mary (Rebecek) Dlouhy in their family home on a farm southwest of Moulton. On November 23, 1957 she married Eugene Berckenhoff and together they had two children.
Georgia attended Evergreen School at Henkhaus, Texas. During her sixth grade year she moved to “Sister School” at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton and quit school after her eight grade year. Georgia was a cook at Moulton ISD for 35+ years, she also was a cook at the Dairy Treat in Moulton.
Survivors include her daughters: Carla (James) Meisetschleager and Carol Dvorak; grandchildren: Cagney (Matt) Hurt, Justin Meisetschleager, Kennon (Julia) Dvorak and Kenzie Dvorak, and bonus granddaughter Hope Kirkland; Great grandchildren: Jayden Dvorak, Raelynn Dvorak, Grady Hurt, Conway Hurt and Collins Hurt; sisters: Alice Fisbeck, Doris Foster, Shirley Welfl and Lynne (Scott) Penner; brother: Harvey (Diana) Dlouhy; Aunt: Mildred Rebecek; two nephews, seven nieces, numerous grandnephews, grandnieces and godchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Berckenhoff, her parents Vladik and Mary Dlouhy, brother-in-laws David Fisbeck and Garland Welfl.
Pallbearers will be Kennon Dvorak, Justin Meisetschleager, Matt Hurt, John Meisetschleager, Larry Joe Berckenhoff and Leon Berckenhoff.
A visitation for sharing of memories with friends and family will be Thursday, September 16, 2021 beginning at 3:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton, Texas with a rosary following at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moulton, Texas.
