Lela Faye Jackson

Lela was born in DeQuincy, LA, October 15, 1943 to parents A.D. Vassar & Genevieve McDonald

She spent 24 years volunteering for the Fire Department of Meadow Village, and also worked for H&R Block for a number of years. Lela enjoyed sewing & reading books. Family was everything to her, with whom she loved to spend time with.

She was able to spend her life with 4 generations of her children, grand children, great-grandchildren, & great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in Death by her husband, Richard "R. A."Jackson, her parents, A.D. Vassar & Genevieve McDonald, her stepfather, Thurman McDonald, and her siblings; Sally Ann Langley and Patrick Langley.

Those left to cherish her memories include her four children; James Duraso and wife Debbie of Ragley, LA, Gwen Chauffepied of Ragley, LA, Tammy Bowling and husband Pat of Lake Charles, LA, and John "JJ" Jackson of Ragley, LA, two sisters; Jackie Hudson and husband Paul of DeRidder, LA, Carlie Jean Powell of Juanita, LA, three brothers Tommy Vassar Sr. of Vinton, LA, Bill Mcdonald and wife Amelia of DeQuincy, LA, and Frankie McDonald and wife Diane of Oretta, LA, she also leaves behind her sister-in-law and friend Thelma Michon and husband John of Conroe, TX, along with nine grandchildren fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will welcome the public for visitation at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Friday September 29, 2023 from 5pm to 9pm. Visitation will resume the following day September 30, 2023 from 9am until 1pm. A celebration of life service led by Hixson celebrant Jody Barrilleaux will begin at 1pm.
