John Roger Engstrom, 80, of Packwood, Wash., went home to the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2020, from his mountain home. John was born on February 20, 1939, in Conrad, Mont., to John Albert and Nora Helen (Townshend) Engstrom. He joined the Army in 1959, when living in the Missoula area, transferring to Fort Lewis, Wash., where he stayed until being honorably discharged.
John married his sweetheart, Miss Ardella Ann ‘Pat’ Seleska, in Bothell, Wash., on July 21, 1972. When he married Pat, he inherited four children, whom he lovingly raised and cared for as his own without hesitation. He enjoyed fishing in Packwood, golfing, and enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners play.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora; and brother, Jim Engstrom.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat Engstrom; step children, Kim (Bob)Beardslee, Tom Paffile, Joe (Katherine) Paffile, and Lorrie (Brian) Bernardi; grandchildren, Robert (Jenna) and Jason Beardslee, Bryce, Brandon, and Blake Paffile, and Cale (Tracey) and Colt (Candice) Stone; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Owen Beardslee, McKenzie and Greyson Stone, and Alice Colquhoun; and half-sister, Margaret Cooper.
Interment was private at Packwood Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Brown Mortuary Service in Morton.
John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He will be missed by all of us, God bless him.
