Rose Marie Smith

Surrounded by family, Rose “Granny” Marie Smith, age 86, of Mohawk, TN, passed away peacefully at a family home on Thursday, July 19, 2023. She was a faithful, long-time member of Mount Hope Church (Mohawk, TN). Rose was known for her laughter, mini “cat-naps,” smile and unique sense of humor (frequently referred to it as her “satire”). She was an extremely hard-working provider, devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Rose retired from TRW Automotive after many years and continued her master-craft of cosmetology for a stint into retirement. She loved dining out and always found joy when those around her “got full.” As we mourn our loss, we find comfort that our Granny has her new wings, is reunited with her loved ones, and joins Jesus walking the heavenly streets of gold. Our Lord has called her home.

2 Corinthians 5:7-8 “for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

Rose is preceded in death by Matt L. Smith (husband), infant daughter Cindi Anne, parents, Amy Marie and Mack Daniel Francis, Grandparents Bertha and James Godsey and half-sister Judy (Tom) Davis.

She is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Douglas) Tippins and Carol (James) Black; three grandchildren, Amy (Del) Baker, Kevin (Kristy) Tippins, Monique (Drew) Walker; five great-grandchildren Andrew Baker, Archer Tippins, Fallyn Baker, Ryan Walker and Durham Tippins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Receiving of friends from 5-7 PM with services to immediately follow. Services will be conducted at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown, TN officiated by Reverend David Gibbs. A private family burial to follow. Pallbearers are Kevin Tippins, Allen Lamb, Isaiah Lamb, Charles Poe, Andrew Baker, and Del Baker. Honorary pallbearers are Archer and Durham Tippins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Mount Hope Church in Rose’s honor.
