Donald H. Spoon went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 11, 2024 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Surviving are his wife Barbara G. Spoon, one brother David Spoon. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, James Jones and sister-in-law, Suzanne Jones of Bluff City, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Spoon, father, James Harold Spoon and sister Deborah Spoon.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Morristown, Tennessee where he participated in their jail ministry. His passion was witnessing and mentoring to the inmates and directing them toward a more positive for their future.
He worked for Sperry Univac in Bristol, Tennessee and GE Medical systems in the Wisconsin area, traveling worldwide to different sites assisting in solving their medical scanner problems. He later ventured out becoming the entrepreneur of his own company, Computer Power and Grounding, which was mostly located in Chicago, Illinois where his wife and he lived for 35 years before relocating to East Tennessee. He was known as "the person who could fix anything."
He will be missed by everyone who knew him, including his yellow and very plump cat, Garfinkle, who would sit on his lap in his office and use the keyboard, along with assistance.
We wish to thank the nursing staff in Unit 2 and the therapy team who assisted while he was at Heritage Center in Morristown, Tennessee.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Mountain Home Veterans Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee.
