Charles Edward Jarnagin, 71 of Morristown, departed his earthly life on Monday, December 30th to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born February 23rd, 1942, the son of Alonza and Pauline Lamons, and adopted son of Jap and Beulah Jarnagin of Three Springs. Charlie was employed with Henrite Corp/Plumley Company for some 30 plus years before the company moved to west Tennessee in the 1980’s. He then became employed with BESTurnings of Morristown, where he continued employment for over twenty years up until the day of his death. Charlie was an avid lover of fishing, football, and NASCAR racing. He spent many evenings tournament fishing, watching a good race, or cheering on his favorite Tennessee Vols. Even after his children reached adulthood, he loved attending local high school football games and assisting Boys & Girls Club events. A kind and fun-loving man, he touched many lives through his helpful and giving personality. His heart-warming smile, cheerful laugh, and selfless way of life are truly going to be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by both his natural and adopted parents; wife, Carol Ann Jarnagin; brothers, Bill Lamons and Kenneth (Hoppy) Lamons; sister, Louise Seals; and best friend and fishing partner, Johnny Hayes.
He is survived by children, Richard Jarnagin, Karen Brooks, Brian Jarnagin, and Suzanne Elkins; brother, Gene Lamons; sisters, Betty Richardson and Sue Crocker; step-children, Billy Knight, Ricky and Tommy Waltermyer; grandson, Brandon Jarnagin, who resided with him; as well as seven additional grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Brooks and Rev. Jody Brooks will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown in his honor.
