Detective Lieutenant James Earl Pruett "Flash", 69, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Carolina Caring Hospice. "Flash" was born to the late Lester Pruett and Annie Queen Pruett on August 16, 1950 in Cleveland Co. North Carolina but resided in his beloved state of Utah for the past 14 years.
"Flash" graduated from Lees-McRae college with a BS in criminal justice. He devoted many years of his life to serving Burke County through his love and dedication of his job with the Burke County Sheriff's Department, he was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed taking his family on many adventures across the country every summer. His main joy was his family, and his love of outdoors, hiking, atving, rving, and camping.
Along with his parents James was preceded in death by his sister; Ruth Matthews and beloved companion Paiute the border collie.
Those left to cherish "Flash" memories are his wife of 39 years Rhonda Fender Pruett, children; Amanda Pruett Smart (Harold), Joshua James Pruett (Amy), Ellie Pruett Tipton, and 4 grandchildren, siblings; Lee Roy Pruett, Mark Pruett, Carl Pruett, Pat Heavner, and Bettie Braswell.
A celebration of "Flash" life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice of Newton, NC, Parkinson's Foundation, or Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
