Ethel Marie Davis, 82, of Morganton, peacefully answered the call of the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Atrium Cabarrus Medical Center. Our precious Lord and Savior had mercy and took her and gave her sweet rest.
Affectionately known as Marie was born to the late William Powell and Annie Gardin Powell on March 18, 1937 in Morganton, NC.
She retired from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center (Western Carolina Center) after 30 years of service as a healthcare assistant. Marie was an active member of her church, where she served faithfully as an usher on the usher board. She served her church as a dedicated member of the cleaning committee, pastor’s search committee, and the prayer team; in addition, to holding the position of being a missionary, Sunday School Superintendent, and a choir member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and community.
Along with her parents Marie was preceded in death by her husband Carol Lindsay Davis.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are her sons; Tony Powell of Los Angeles, CA., Roger Powell (Grace) of Morganton, and Ricky Powell (Theresa) of Los Angeles, CA., step-son; Wilbert Davis of Drexel step-daughters; Linda Davis and Sarah Davis both of Morganton sisters; Willa Ann Fleming, and Aline Avery both of Morganton. Marie also leaves cherished memories to her 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, and nephews and other relatives and friends who miss her dearly.
