Eric Christopher Harper

Eric Harper “Crusty”, age 49, succumbed to colon cancer on October 19th at his parent’s home in Morganton, NC. Surviving Eric are his dog, Blue; children, Danny (Tiffany) Harper, Jennifer Harper (Ricky Totherow Jr.), and Josh Harper (Elizabeth Morgan); grandchildren, Joshua McGinty and Kinsley Totherow; parents, Rodney and Cheryl Harper; and his brother Jeffrey (Amanda) Harper.

Eric was an unlicensed electrician, repo man, and a tenacious hardhead. Yet, under a tough facade was a sentimental and generous soul. He would do anything for a friend in need. If you are Eric’s friend or relative, you might be surprised to learn he definitely had a picture of you somewhere in the camper where he lived.

Eric was a jack of all trades and a consummate tinkerer. He knew how to fix anything using only a welder, pocket knife, and duct tape. Eric never threw anything away if he thought it would be useful later. Like other men in his family, he had a lot of stuff he was gonna use someday. Some people might call this stuff junk, but Eric knew better.

He collected tools, guns, and fishing gear. His favorite fishing spot is somewhere on Lake Norman. But, like most fishermen, he kept it a secret. As a result, its location will forever remain a mystery.
