Arthur Herman Beck

Mr. Arthur Herman Beck, 77, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, after a period of declining health. Arthur was born October 28, 1932, in Burke County to the late Howard Monroe Beck and Hennie Whisnant Beck. Arthur was a graduate of Oak Hill High School’s class of 1952. Arthur was a member of the Zion Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher. He retired from Drexel Heritage after 35 years service as a truck driver and loved farming. Mr. Beck served his country proudly in the US Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Reverend Robert Leonard Beck.

Those left to cherish Arthur’s memory include a son, Clifford Beck & wife, Tresa of Morganton; a daughter, Laura Beck of Newton; two sisters, Myrta Harrison & husband, Richard of Martinsville, VA and Sarah Greene & husband, Sam of Fletcher, NC; and a grandchild, Cody Beck, of Morganton.

Funeral Services for Mr. Beck will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 19, 2010, at the Zion Baptist Church, Morganton, with the Dr. Steve Parker and Reverend Roger Beck officiating. The family will receive friends 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Beck’s memory to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc, 1721 Enon Rd, Valdese, NC 28690.
