Rita Augustina Campos

Rita A. Campos, aged 66, died peacefully on June 26, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends in Gilroy, CA, after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born to the late Benito Campos and Paulita Villa Campos on May 23, 1948.

Rita grew up in Morgan Hill, CA, where she graduated from Live Oak High School. She started her career as a nurse’s assistant. Soon after, Rita transitioned to the field of accounting and spent more than 20 years with National Semiconductor in Santa Clara, CA while raising her two children. In 2007, Rita received her certificate in Massage Therapy from Bryman College and practiced for 7 years. She loved her clients, and was a true healer.

Rita came from a large family and was second to last of 14 children. She loved her family deeply and one of her greatest joys was family gatherings. Rita also enjoyed crocheting, listening to music and dancing, collecting mice, and going for drives. She was hardworking, loyal, strong and stubborn.

Rita is survived by her siblings, Nora Silva, Carlos Campos, Jimmy Campos, and Rosie Martinez; daughter Renee (Danny) Kapsalis of Monterey, CA and son Lawrence Mark (Donalyn) Ruiz of Sunnyvale, CA; and four grandchildren, Michael, Briana, Kayla, and Hanna. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Following, there will be a special memorial from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. for family and friends to share their memories of Rita.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, 17400 Peak Avenue, Morgan Hill. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose.
