Mr. Ashley Joseph Stephens, a native of the Bayou Long area (now known as Stephensville) and a long time resident of Morgan City, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the wonderful age of 97. On September 30th, Ashley would have celebrated his 98 birthday.
Mr. Ashley proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In his spare time he enjoyed watching western's where valor and manners abounded. Most notably though, Ashley was known for his immense skills with solving Rubix cubes. Quick witted and sharp, Ashley found the puzzles interesting and loved sharing his ability with others as much as possible.
Those left to cherish Ashley's wonderful memory is his daughter, Karen Reed and her husband, Andrew "Andy"; his granddaughters, Sarah Tessler and her husband, Louie, and Amanda Stephens and her companion, Josh Alcina; his grandson, Christopher Boudreaux; his great grandchildren, Zane and Jake Tessler, AshleyMay Catrett and Robbie Boudreaux; his step grandchildren, Amy Thorguson and her husband, Brian, Benjamin "Ben" Reed and his wife, Alexina "Lexii"; and step great grandchildren, Gabriel, Bella, and Fletcher Reed, and Owen and Henry Thorguson. He is also survived by his sister, Louella Dupre and his brother, Wilson Stephens.
He joined in heaven his wife, Lois Doiron Stephens; his daughter, Debra Stephens; his parents, Gilbert and Alzina Stephens; his step great grandson, Gunnar Thorguson; and his two brothers, Elward and Elliot Stephens.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Curleen Young, who was Ashley's loving caregiver and special friend. The family would also like to thank Dr. Francis Metz III, Maison Jardin and their wonderful staff, and Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice for their attention, care, and support of Ashley in his final days.
In keeping with Ashley's wishes, there will be no public services, instead please keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during the coming days and months. You are also welcome to solve a Rubix cube in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ashley's memory to Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church Maintenance Fund at P.O. Box 632, Morgan City, LA 70381.
