Eric Lee Outland was born in Los Angeles County, California. He was raised in Hacienda Heights, CA, and was a graduate of Los Altos High School. Immediately after graduating from high school he joined the military and served in the United States Air Force. He then began a career in the aerospace industry and was employed at Northrup Grumman in El Segundo, CA for many years. In 1988 Eric moved to Moreno Valley, CA, and was a longtime member of Oasis Community Church.
For most of his life, Eric enjoyed his hobby and passion of restoring Volkswagen Beetles to their original state. He was quite the Volkswagen enthusiast and owned and restored quite a few Volkswagen Beetles in his lifetime. As a talented mechanic, he was well known for his excellent work in rebuilding engines with the Volkswagen community and was sought after for his services.
Eric was known for his sense of humor, willingness to help others, and for his friendly disposition. It was not uncommon for him to stop on the road and help stranded motorists. He enjoyed sharing his faith in Christ and praying with people in need. Eric will be greatly missed!
Eric was preceded in death by his mother Tressie Marie Outland of St. Maries, Idaho. Eric is survived by his father Donald Lee Outland of Seal Beach, CA. He leaves behind three daughters Danielle Marie Outland of St. Maries, Idaho, Morgan Merris, Oregon, Sarah Nicole Outland of Moreno Valley, CA, and his son Matthew Ryan Outland of Moreno Valley, CA, and five grandchildren.
