On Monday Evening “Gene” died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Mt. Kisco NY, to his parents, the late Eugene and Anna Gould, he is survived by his wife Carol (Alleman) Gould of Palm Coast and their son, Kevin of Pelham Manor NY, three grandsons, Michael, Luke and John of Pelhman Manor NY, his brother Thomas and his wife Patricia of Saratoga Springs NY, his sister Kathleen and spouse Kate Henebery of Clinton Corners NY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Michael. Growing up in Katonah NY, he displayed talents in sports and was Captain of the Katonah High School Basketball Team. Stationed in Fort Campbell KY, in the Korean War era, he served in the 11th Airborne Division and was honorably discharged. Studying business at Manhattan College, Riverdale NY, he was employed by NY Telephone Company for 35 years. As a long time sailor and member of the Milford Yacht Club CT, in 1988 he sailed the yacht “Freedom” across the Atlantic Ocean from Bayonnna, Spain to Bermuda and on to CT. On the yacht, “Suwannee”, he competed in the Newport to Bermuda Race in 1990 and again 1992. As President of the RAMS (Radio Controlled Model Airplane Club) in Palm Coast, he was responsible for the development of the flying site on South Old Kings Road which serves the community. As a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church he served as a Eucharistic Minister and an Adoration Team Member. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19 from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass celebrating “Gene’s” life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 N. Central Ave., Flagler Beach. Visitation in New York will be held on Thursday, September 25th from 6-9pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. Graveside services will be held on Friday at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor, NY at 11:00 am.
