Maria was born in Sulmona, Italy on February 18, 1932 to Antonio and Maddalena Ventresca and was the eighth child of nine loving brothers and sisters: Anna, Settimio, Elena, Gino, Carmine, Mario, Livio and Salvatore.
The siblings grew up in challenging circumstances during the World War ll years in Europe. At the age of 27, Maria sailed across the ocean to Halifax, Nova Scotia and went on to join her brothers in Niagara Falls, Canada where she attended a wedding and re-encountered Palmino Pinque, a young man she knew in childhood. The two married on April 23rd, 1960 and made a home in Napanoch NY until 1970 when they made the permanent move to Buchanan NY. While in Buchanan Maria worked at Sanitis Wallpaper and when she was not working, she was extremely productive at home raising her three sons, tending to her garden, sharing homemade pasta, home grown vegetables, jars of sauce and fruit with friends and family and cooking Italian food with a delicious aroma that often made the neighbors take notice. The tender feelings she had for her friends and family members in Italy, Canada and Napanoch lived in her heart & mind. She never forgot her loved ones and she stayed in touch with them as often as possible.
Maria is survived by her three sons: Erminio (Elizabeth), Marco (Maggie), Mario (Tina) and grandchildren Peter, Isabella, Spencer, and Juliette. Maria will be remembered by her brother Salvatore (Frances) Ventresca as well as numerous nephews and nieces on the Pinque and Ventresca sides of the family.
