In Loving Memory of Roberta “Rody” (nee Oliver) Aubry, (1951-2024), Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
It is with great sadness; we announce the passing of our beloved Roberta (Rody/Rodie) Oliver (a.k.a. The Joker). She passed away peacefully on June 18th, at the age of 73, surrounded by her family and friends after a long 3 year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Roberta also known as (Rody/Rodie), was born on Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville, Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 7, 1951. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and cherished member of the Montreal community. She fought a courageous battle against colon cancer and demonstrated an unwavering strength and resilience until the very end. Rody will always be remembered for her kind heart and dynamic personality, which she used to effortlessly impact everyone she met.
For those that were lucky to have known Rody, she had an infectious laugh, was quick witted, and had the wonderful ability to find humor in everything and everyone in her life. Her family lovingly referred to her as the “Comedian of the family a.k.a. the JOKER.” She had a unique talent for bringing joy to those around her, and her laughter and humor echoed through countless family gatherings.
Rody was pre-deceased by her Husband Paul, her Mother; Mary Williams-Oliver, Father; Charles Oliver, Sister; Gail (Izzie), Brothers; Andrew and Jack.
She is survived by her twin Alberta along with her many siblings: Joan, John Richard (Dickie), Doris, Gladys, Cherryl (Cherry), Sheila (Gunter), Frankie, Beverly, Dale, and Calvin. Her presence is already missed, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of the many Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and relatives who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her legacy lives on thorough her daughter Melody, and son Corey, who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Rody’s grandchildren: Rashaun, Travaun, Daeja, Brendon, Tyrie, Chanel, and her great grandchildren Mekiel, and Ariya—will remember her as the comedic Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who shared countless stories that always left them laughing.
Rody’s personality was bigger than life. Her humour always managed to put people around her at ease and make them smile. She had a real flair for making everyone laugh with her comedic gestures and brilliant nicknames.
As hard as it may be to let her go, we know that the Lord has called upon his loving Angel Rody home to Heaven.
Revelation 21:4
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
As we bid farewell to Rody, let us celebrate her life, in honor of her memory, and continue to find joy in the laughter she brought to our lives. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Jewish Hospital whose compassion and care made sure she was comfortable and at peace, right up until the very end of her life.
Her family requests that those wishing to honour her memory do so through acts of kindness, love, and compassion – a true reflection of Rody's essence.
