We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Kathleen (Kay) Dow on November 15, 2018 at her residence in Montreal. Kay was born in 1920 in Liverpool and grew up in the idyllic Isle of Man where she met and married Canadian Infantry Captain, Clinton Leo Dow. She came to Canada as a war bride and she and her husband settled in Moncton, New Brunswick. Kay was an active member and Regent of the Fort Monckton Chapter of the I.O.D.E and also served as Public Relations Secretary of that organization.
Kay was an excellent baker, her mince pies, cherry blossoms, lemon bread, and apple pies were the stuff of legends. Her artistic sense was captured in her needlepoint, dressmaking, oil painting and pressed flower pictures. An early adopter of the internet, Kay kept up with current events and changes in technology late into life. She had a thriving social life and appreciated fashion, travel, food, and wine until well into her nineties.
Kay was pre-deceased by her parents, Kate (Teare) Parry and John William Booth; her husband Clint and brothers Stanley Booth and Harold Parry. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Sandra and Carole (Charlie Smith) and her son Peter, her grandchildren Sara (Danny), Maryam (Jesse) and Christopher (Sarah), great-grandchildren Olivia and Jackson, and special friend Mary Christakis.
The family wants to especially thank Dr. Théberge and Mark Ortizo from the palliative care team of the CLSC de Cote-des-Neiges and everyone at Westmount One for the help and support we received. A service to celebrate Kay’s life will take place at 4 PM Friday November 23, 2018 at Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Homes, 5610 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal, QC.
If desired, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Matthias Anglican Church, Westmount, QC or a charity of your choosing.
