Gerald Benard

Adoring and devoted husband of 46 years to Mary (Magiera), Dad to Michelle (Andrew Richardson) and Marc (Christina Vandette), Best Poppa in the world to Cassidy, Ryan, Sean, Emma, Lauren and Jack, brother to Ronald (Andrée Delisle), passed away peacefully at home.

Gerry was a kind and honorable man. Full of compassion, humour and integrity - he was always incredibly positive. The type of man you hope your kids grow up to be like. Gerry made people believe in themselves and that anything is possible with hard work. He always had an ear for anyone who wanted to talk or needed help. He was a finder of solutions and a repairer of all things.

Gerry graduated from McGill Civil Engineering in 1970 and was successful in business, working with Preston Phipps for many years. His proudest moments though revolved around his wife, family and friends. Gerry loved his cottage ''JAGDIP'', fishing and sitting on his boat at sunset. His passion for hockey and the Detroit Red Wings was legendary.

Gerry heaven will be a better place with you there. From cannonballs into the pool, to great parties to finally catching that big fish. Keep laughing Dad, keep smiling. We promise to ''Carpe Diem'' - just like you always have.

Gerald Benard, époux dévoué depuis 46 ans de Mary (Magiera), père de Michelle (Andrew Richardson) et Marc (Christina Vandette), meilleur Poppa au monde de Cassidy, Ryan, Sean, Emma, Laurent et Jack, frère de Ronald (Andrée Delisle).

Gerry était un home gentil et honorable. Plein de compassion, d'humour et d'intégrité, il était toujours incroyablement positif. Le type d'homme que vous espérez voir vos enfants devenir un jour.

Gerry a ensigné aux gens combine il est important de croire en soi-même et qu'en travaillant fort, tout est possible. Il était toujours à l'écoute des gens qui voulait parler ou demander conseil. Il savait trouver les solutions et réparer toutes choses.

Diplômé en 1970 en genie civil de l'université McGill, il a travaillé avec Preston Phipps pendant de nombreuses années. Ses plus fiers moments se sont déroulés entouré de sa femme, sa famille et ses amis. Gerry aimait son chalet ''JAGDIP'', pêcher et relaxer sur son bateau au coucher du soleil. Sa passion pour le hockey et les Red Wings de Detroit était légendaire.

Gerry, le paradis sera un meilleur endroit avec toi, avec tes «cannonballs» dans la piscine, les grandes fêtes et de ta joie d'enfin attraper ce gros poisson! Continue à rire papa, continue à sourire. Nous promettons ''Carpe Diem'' - Tout comme tu l'as toujours fait.
