Dorothy Collins

Dorothy Marie Collins was called home to our Lord and Saviour on Sunday January 19, 2020. She was one of 19 siblings and two grandchildren raised by Ralph and Viola (Byard) Collins of Truro, Nova Scotia. Dorothy moved to Montreal in the 1960’s along with several of her siblings where she eventually became a well known, respected member of the community. She was well known for her natural ability to make people smile, keen sense of humour, kindness and generosity. She was a pillar of her community. Profoundly devoted and caring, she loved and cherished her family unconditionally.

Dorothy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Quebec at the age of 87 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Ralph Collins Sr. and Viola (Byard) Collins; siblings: James, St Clair, Evelyn, Cecil, who died in infancy; brothers: Ralph Jr “Pee wee”, Richard “Dickie”, Donald, Robert “Tucker”, Charles “Chuck”, William “Bill”, and Clobie; sisters: Carol, Margaret, and Marcell.

She is survived by her devoted sons: Carmen, David, and Derold (Catherine) whom she treasured; granddaughter: Angela; and beloved and cherished siblings: Eileen, Sandra, Phyllis all of Montreal, Francis (Frances) of Truro NS, Royce of Winnipeg MB, and Douglas (Pat) of Nassau, Bahamas.

Dorothy will also be lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends whom she cherished deeply. Dorothy was the family matriarch whose fighting spirit and love of life will live on in her family forever.

Viewing will take place on Friday January 31, 2020 from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm and 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and Saturday February 1, 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Centre Funeraire Cote Des Neiges. 4525 Côte-des-Neiges Rd, Montreal, Quebec H3V 1E7.
