Donald Oakes

Survived by his devoted children, Stephen (Lora), Deborah (Cary Miller), Peter, Michael (Susan), Colleen (Lou Puglisi), Christopher and Catherine.

Loving and forever adored "Gramps" to his jewels, Matthew, Blake, Spencer, Alexa, Jordan, Nicholas, Kristina, Gennaro and Lucas.

Predeceased by his loving wife and mother of his children, Mary Franklin, second wife Doreen Johnson, daughter Donna Marie, son-in-law Marvin Malin, as well as his sisters Anita and Dorothy.

Also survived by his brothers, Andre and Peter (Beth), brother-in-law John Franklin, and sister-in-law Maureen Franklin, as well as many nieces and nephews, particularly special niece, Cookie Macey.

The family would like to give special thanks to his dear friend Shirley Joncas, and wonderful caregiver, Sharon McLaughlin.

Particular thanks to all the staff on 8D south at the Royal Victoria Hospital (MUHC) for their outstanding care and compassion. He was in remarkable hands with them.

Don's love and exceptional skill at bridge, as well as his keen interest in world history, politics, sports, and crossword puzzles were legendary and will be talked about for years to come.
