With an engineer's mind, there was no problem too difficult for Chuck to solve using a logical approach for achieving success in everyday life. Energetically, Chuck championed the waterways as a Canadian outboard hydroplane racer winning over one hundred competitions and holding three US & Canadian records in the early 1960's, with his brother Louis by his side. In 1961, he was considered North America’s top outboard racer. His professional career was spent at Stelco McMaster Works, responsible for the maintenance of smelters at Contrecoeur, Quebec.
He was born on August 6, 1925 in Czechoslovakia, the son of the late Ludwig Simon and Gizella Darmo. He was predeceased by his dear wife Bernice (Bronia Chruszcz Kaplun) who passed away on August 17, 2014. He is survived by his loving daughter Karen and devoted son Ronald, both of Montreal; daughter Nancy of Vancouver; sister Claire Walker of Palm Desert, CA, and brother Louis and Jeannine Simon of Montreal..
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Centre Funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges, 4525 Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, QC H3V 1E7 (514) 342-8000, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
