Dear Leslie and family,
As I was out of town today - and just finished watching the Service online.
I arrived at McGill in 1964 and among the first people I met were Dave Thorpe, Joan McPherson and Barbara.
Since I was the first graduate student in Computer Science at McGill before the School was setup - I was asked to share an office with Barbara - which I gladly did.
I remember Barbara and Joan working for Mrs. Manley as the first programmers under very difficult circumstances.
Barbara withstood the stress well and we went on to write a number of manuals together to help staff and students get started in the computer field.
I do not remember the exact date of the next event, but Leslie will.  I bumped into Barbara in Eatons and she made a point of undoing her coat to show me her baby bump - which would appear in a few months to be Leslie!!
Over the years we keep in touch and I enjoyed her artwork which was a great source of relaxation and showed off her talent.
We all be sorry with her passing and wish Leslie and family and friends our deepest condolences.

Barbara and I forged a special friendship during the pandemic. We helped each other stay connected. My fondest memory is walking together down to Vancouver Park on Nuns Island. There was always something to debate and laugh about whilst enjoying our moment in the sun. I feel truly blessed to have known her and to own some of her treasured artwork. Her passion for art is her legacy, all consuming and infectious.

I will always remember Barbara for her friendliness and warmth and her exceptional talent as an artist. The image I posted shows Barbara and three of her works of art exhibited at two past WASM art shows where she won awards for her lovely paintings entitled "Rose Garden" and "Autumn Approaches".

Dear Leslie and Family,
I had a lot of great times with your Mom. All the times we would all as a group go to the Van Houtte on Sherbrooke after a WASM lecture for coffee and catch up. I went a few times to shop with Barb at the Bay after that. 
I visited her home a few times too. Her artwork is amazing. I'm so glad she is on my website ArtistsinMontreal.com . She was really getting into doing abstracts as well. Very beautiful. 
With the photo attached of the WASM Holiday Luncheon of 2016, Barbara bought my fruitcake at the silent auction. I gave her fruitcakes after that every Christmas. 
Barbara will be sorely missed. Take good care everyone. All the best. Cathy Keays :) 

Barbara was in the Class of '55 who graduated from Victoria High School.  Even though she lived in Montreal, she would travel to Victoria as often as possible to attend one of our reunions on June 10th of each year.  It was always a pleasure to see her.  She had a very vibrant personality and enjoyed meeting all her former classmates.  She will be missed at our future reunions.

Barbara was such an inspiration.  I very much enjoyed her visits with my parents at Victoria and Shawnigan Lake. Her paintings of our Water Lilys and the Island at the Lake remind me of her visits every time I am with my mother.  Such a talent. My mom has many of her works of art.  I have missed her and do grieve her passing.
