William K Stokes

William K. Stokes, Jr. “Bill", 84, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the services on Sunday. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a Mason, a member of Morningview Baptist Church and an insurance exectutive. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Stokes; and sisters, Sara Nell Williams, Ellie Jane Stokes and Wardine Stokes. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Zola Tidmore Stokes; children, Susie Beaird (Brother), Gail Norris (Woody), Bill Stokes (Jill); sister, Buna Mae Woodruff (Ernest); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Bill was instrumental in founding the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Morningview Baptist Church. After his stroke years ago, the Bill Stokes Ministry Fund was created and has touched many lives as it has ministered to those in need of encouragement in the name of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Morningview Baptist Church and designated to the Fellowship Class/Bill Stokes Ministry Fund.
