William was a lifelong Montgomery resident. He attended Lee High School and was a graduate of Auburn University in Montgomery majoring there in Business Administration.
He is survived by 4 siblings: Henry Lewis Pugh (Gaylen), Jane P. Richardson (Tom), John Barr Pugh, Jill P. Murphy (Bryan). William had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews: Tommy Richardson (Allison), Sandy R. Brownd (Chris), Katherine P. Hanneman (Ben), Jonathan Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Margaret M. Schuneman (Spencer), Michael Murphy (Alyssa) and his 9 great nieces and nephews.
William had an enormous heart and was generous to a fault with his affection and gift giving. He was beloved by many for his thoughtful nature. William was known for being gregarious. He never met a stranger.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Priscilla Herndon and all the other staff at Capitol Heights Place for all their kindness to William over the years. Special thanks is given to Selena Grider for the devoted care she extended to William this past year.
Visitation will be at 2 PM on 9/11/2022 at Leak Memory at 945 Lincoln Road with the Celebration of Life Service following directly afterwards at 3:00 PM. A graveside committal service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. After the services there will be a reception for family and friends at Leak Memory.
